Insight Systems Corporation is seeking a senior Editor/Writer to support the USAID Feed the Future Knowledge-Driven Agricultural Development (KDAD) Project. The KDAD project promotes effective, innovative knowledge management, strategic communications, and training services that support agricultural development, food security, enterprise promotion, and poverty reduction. The project is responsible for developing and managing multi-faceted and high-quality communications and knowledge sharing tools and building learning communities within agricultural development and food security, inclusive market and private capital investment, gender, private sector engagement and Agency-wide learning and evaluation.

Position Description

The Senior Editor/Writer will work with the Communications team and serve as the main point of contact for USAID and Feed the Future branding as well as content and style oversight for all kinds of projects, ranging from small reports to large, brochures, flyers, online information and more. The incumbent will maintain a high level of accuracy and quality and manage writing, editing and the production of various communications and knowledge management products that further the strategic goals of the project’s clients. Examples of assignments include: technical briefs, copy for marketing materials, web pages and articles, social media, and large scale technical and project reports. Duties beyond writing and editing include: proofreading, document formatting, style review, branding maintenance and editorial direction. The right candidate will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, excellent communications skills (both verbal and written), a sense of humor, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines. The Senior Writer/Editor will report to the Communications Portfolio Manager and work closely with the Communications team and others.

Required Skills

  • At least 15 years of editing and writing experience, transforming technical and abstract ideas into engaging content to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in developing content for print and online marketing collateral.
  • Experience editing and writing about international development issues; a deep understanding of USAID processes and Feed the Future and/or international food security issues highly desired.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and vendors.
  • Nimble thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Degree in English, Journalism or a related field.
  • Approval to work in the United States.
